| - 2 - 26/5/34. agree to try the Plymouth front wing suspension, but we wonder if it would be necessary with the independent wheel suspension, as the torque on the frame is less and the frame is stiffer torsionally. It would be a help if the Experimental Department could tell us if they have experienced any less front wing dither on 27-EX. WHEELBASE: As drawn, the 11ft.10 ins. wheelbase gives the same maximum body as does the Phantom 2 (see EVS.119). Although this maximum body is possible on a wheelbase 2 ins. less than our present short wheelbase P.2., we suggest that we shall wish to have a short wheelbase model SpectreCodename for Phantom III 11ft. 4 ins. for the Continental Saloon. We admit that instead of shortening the wheelbase we could build the short body on the long one, moving the rear seat still further forward of the rear axle, than on the present Continental. We fear that as the limit on the chassis is the axle and the battery cross-tube, Coachbuilders will eventually build up to this limit, with the result that all SpectreCodename for Phantom III Continental Saloons would be 6" longer than Phantom, unless we have a short chassis.
