8180. S/W. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. " Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. " O.{Mr Oldham} c. " Hc. Experimental Cars. With reference to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid{A. J. Lidsey}4/MJ20.12.32, we note what you say regarding 16-G4. We agree that this chassis should for sale purposes remain fitted with the s/m gearbox. As regards the radiator, presumably the chassis frame is of such a design that the lowered radiator cannot be fitted. If we are wrong in this assumption, and the front cross member is not in the way of the lowered radiator, perhaps you would let me know. With regard to the engine which you propose to supply and fit to this car, we are not quite clear as to really what you are offering us. It seems to be a mixture of present standard parts and previous standard parts, whereas we feel that the engine should be to a definite standard specification. For instance, you say that the crankshaft is not fitted with balance weights. That presumably is the same type of shaft therefore as was fitted in chassis of the GBT and previous series. On the other hand you state that the engine has the present standard camshaft, cylinder head, pistons and valve gear, which presumably means the engine with 20% more power, higher compression, etc. We understood it was necessary that these features should have the balanced crankshaft. Perhaps you would therefore enlighten us more fully on the engine details. We agree with you that the axle ratio should be the standard 11/50. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Lul | ||
