SHOCK ABSORBERS (Contd.) (8)

101st Meeting Re Spring load on standard shock absorbers.
Dec. 19. 11.

Mr. Platford reported that he had tested a large number of chassis fitted with our standard shock absorbers, having the spring load increased from 15 to 40 lbs. He had found this load to be necessary with our present flexible springs and had discovered no ill effects. He suggested that this load should be made standard.

In reply to a question by the Committee, Mr. Platford stated that the spring pressure dropped on running for about 250 miles after original setting, about 5 lbs, but this did not afterwards alter.

It was suggested that it might be necessary to increase the length of the spring before this load is made standard.

The Committee agreed that Mr. Spinney should go into this matter and report to the Committee, and that meantime Mr. Platford should increase the load on our standard to 40 lbs.

104th Meeting Re Shock Absorbers.
Dec. 27. 11.

It had previously been agreed that Mr. Platford should despatch cars with the shock absorbers havin the spring pressure adjusted
