1020. Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}6/MH.{M. Huckerby} 29th. August 1938. Messrs. Vandervell Products Ltd., Western Avenue, Park Royal, LONDON, W.3. Dear Sirs, We are proposing to fit for trial, rocker bushes to one of our experimental engines similar to the ones you produced for us to B.2204 in Babbit lined steel bushes with the exception of their dimensions, which are as follows:- Rocker Arm bore in which the bushes are housed being .843 dia. x 1.1/12 long, the shaft upon which the bushes run being .7485 dia. If the section of the above bushes conforms with your standard practice we should be pleased if you would send us 40 sample bushes for our trial, together with the usual drawing you submit. We should like, if possible, to keep the rocker housing to a fractional size as existing, .843" - 27/32" so that the external bushes you produce would be several thou in excess of this dimension for the interference fit. We are particularly anxious to get these bushes as soon as possible, and pending your reply will issue instructions for an official order to be passed. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
