To. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 200a. CHATEAUROUX. 5/ II.3.38. Damage to 6.B.IV.- BENTLEY. 10,000 MILES TEST CAR IN FRANCE. On the 2nd March 1938 at about 6.30 P.M. I was driving this car up the Avenue de Friedland on the way to the Paris Depot. A car on my right, going in the same di-ection suddenly pulled across to his left across my bows for some reason which I did not see. I also had to pull to the left to avoid him and the nearside (left) wheels of the Bentley ran over an island in the middle of the road. The other car did not stop, so particulars could not be obtained. The Bentley was driven on to the Depot where it was ascertained that the following damage had been done. This was put right the following day. Front Axle, Cross Steering Tube, and N.S.F. Spring clip, bent. N.S.F. & N.S.R. road wheels damaged. Exhaust system damaged. One brake rod and brake lever keyway damaged. Joint broken on N.S.F. shock damper. The cost of parts supplied and labour, apart from work done by ourselves, will be sent through in due course by the Paris Depot. ----------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M.
