X 3381 COPY. ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED, 220, Union Building, Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. NAL/K2718. July 2nd. 1918. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from NA.{Mr Nadin} c. to WD.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} RE DEFECTIVE CRANKSHAFTS. Many thanks for your cable of June 23rd re the above subject. We are arranging to send over to England, about twelve crankshafts which we think are sufficiently good for use, and probably as good as those now being used at Derby. There are however, some very minute defects in them, which are difficult to find without having them pointed out. We are marking the defects in each case, and will ask you to run them in engines upon receipt. We are positive no possible harm can come from such defects in the life of the engine.
