-2- Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/Mcr1O/L9314. are obtaining these signatures in view of Mr Johnson's memo J7/T29114 where he states - "It shall be the duty of the head draughtsman to see that the signatures of the officials approving the adoption for standard manufacture shall be obtained with the greatest possible speed." This remark of Mr Johnson's has apparently been read by some of the draughtsmen in Derby as being their duty to instruct me to obtain the necessary signatures. They have done this because of allowing each job to go through the usual routine. If you do not adopt this course we shall be glad to know exactly how much you propose to do and whether you wish us to do any of the work in this connection, either with obtaining weights or costs, or instructing Stores keepers re the disposal of scrapped parts, the holding in abeyance of certain parts in the Shops while the signatures are being obtained, obtaining the criticism of Sales Dept. and arranging for experimental chassis to be despatched for this purpose etc. | ||
