OIL RELAY.

(1) Indication of Relay functioning.

An indication as to whether the oil relay is functioning can be obtained by observing the movement of lever E.72518 with the engine turning over and the car stationary. With the engine at normal running temperature, this lever should change its angular position when the engine speed is varied, its extremity moving towards the crankcase with increasing engine speed.

(2) To clean Relay Filter.

To extract the relay filter gauze for cleaning purposes, it is only necessary to remove nut E.72505 and disconnect the oil pipe to the bottom of the relay when the filter can be removed.

(3) To investigate the failure of the automatic ignition advance.

Should the lever fail to move as indicated in the preceding paragraph, the oil relay should be dismantled. This can be accomplished by first of all removing nut E.72495, and extracting spring E.72497. The 4 nuts securing the cap E.72377 should then be removed and the cap lifted and swung back. This can be done without uncoupling the controls attached to the lever E.72518. The extremity of lever E.72459 should then be lifted between the finger and thumb - if this
