| -6- Remarks. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/WJC.1/BA.17.5.39. No.5. This is a new unit for which specification has been issued, since then we have received instructions from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} which means further modifications to pattern for which we have no drawings. Below is a brief summar of the main items. (a) EB.4669 T.H.Crankcase and Cylinder - Held up pending new details. (b) EB.4695 Crankshaft - Forgings not yet available. We are urging. We understand modifications are also required on this. (c) Wraith III type Crankshaft Damper to ECD.1043 (d) EB.3916 Pistons - Aerolite. (e) EB.4706 Cylinder Head to FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}368. - Castings to be urged. (f) Ex.33420 Solid stem Exhaust Valves. (g) EB.4882 Camshaft. (h) GCD.1075 Dynamo having greater flexibility. (i) Rocker Mechn. EB.4731/2 Valve Rockers. EB.4734/5/6 Pedestals. (j) Flexible Flywheel GR.{George Ratcliffe}4418. No.6. Specification for this new unit is also revised and we are to incorporate the hydraulic tappets which means further modification of the pattern after castings have been taken to produce No.5. Complete specification is required from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} B.V.Units.
