Dear Vandervell,

Thank you for your letter of
April 10th.

We are just trying out the washers
having an increased area. If what you say about loose
washers being better than flanged is true however, it
seems strange that the Americans should have gone to
the trouble of producing flange bearings, two types
of which I have on my table at the present moment.
