RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Rg.{Mr Rowledge} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4003 BYG/G.18.10.28. F.XII M.S. NO. 113. ---------------- An instruction has been received by Rg.{Mr Rowledge} (ref. Py/BLB14/AV/D.15.10.28. instructing us that the above engine after it has completed its test and become Air Ministry property is to be handed over to the Experimental Department who in turn will have to produce what is known as a long duration camshaft. Apparently this is a camshaft made up by having standard inclinations on both sides with a constant lift portion, that is a "dwell" interposed in the top of the cam. The Experimental Dept. have we understand made camshafts like this before, one of them we believe is on the F.XII M.S. 99, and it is a similar pair of camshafts to this which is required. Will Mr. Coverley kindly produce a further pair of the camshafts in question, and fit them to the above engine before it runs its type test, the type test in question having to be run with the new camshaft.
