E.A.C. THROTTLE GOVERNOR. Attached is a general comparison of the functioning of EAC. and 40/50 HP. throttle governors respectively, and a particular comparison for the two governors using the figures actually obtained by test for the governor springs and governor pulls respectively. The purpose of this comparison is to shew the effect of having a cam throttle operation between the governor and the throttle. It demonstrates why we are not experiencing very selective functioning of the EAC. governor at small throttle openings. We have also demonstrated why, in our opinion, we cannot hold speeds of 30/35 m.p.h. as well on the EAC. as on the 40/50, though as a general rule one would expect the cam of the latter to be opening the throttle rapidly at these speeds. We have added a few general remarks on the tendency of governors of this type when incorporated with throttle controls in the RR. 40/50 HP. manner, and our recommendations for improving this item. To simplify the comparison, we have neglected the variation in the governor dynamic couple at any r.p.m. due to the variation in angular movement of the weights allowed by the design. Also that in the case of the EAC. the throttle return spring by its position beyond the cam action, tends to cause the governor spring to have a slight variable rating. contd :- | ||
