X4197 Extract from R4/G21.10.20. X.4195. RE ARMOURED CARS. X.4197. We have also sent by Mr. Day this morning, the drawing of the R.R. air pump, and are relying on despatching the drive for same this evening. At the same time, you will remember that it was decided that we should go on with the Maxfield pump and its drive, which we hope will be in the hands of the Production D.O. by Monday next. The fitting of either of these pumps does not entail any serious alteration to the engine, so that either of these pumps can be fitted to an engine without particularly skilled labour, providing that certain small and quick operations are done to the engines before they leave the works.
