Bentley / Mr Barrington} BY3/P6.9.19. RE STEERING LEVERS. -------- It is most important that each lever must have a brinell test taken and that the impression should be taken in a place where it will not be machined off. EH. points out that the rocking lever which broke on bumper was soft mild steel and only gave a brinell reading of 197. Care must be taken that this cannot happen on chassis. If HBO. will consult Btn or myself we will fix a position where we shall specify on the drawing that Brinell must be taken and impression left by Mr Pendlebury so that Mr Insull may check readings to ensure the metal parts being properly heat treated.
