RE STEERING COLUMN.
RE PROPOSAL TO USE ONLY TWO POSITIONS FOR ENGLISH CARS.

Referring to EH5/LG17919, the position in regard to the above matter is that I have supplied Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}, with Mr. Cowens memo, in which the latter points out that he does not consider the proposal satisfactory for English requirements. In view of this it would certainly be advisable to let PN{Mr Northey}, and thereby Sales, try the position proposed, so that standardisation sheets for the modification can be issued and the scheme either definitely accepted or rejected.

In the meantime we are carrying on to the end up to chassis 500 of the post-war programme with the old A, B, C, and D positions of steering, excepting only chassis for France, which would only have the two positions of steering column, namely B or "C on D", which, however, would have to be specially called for by Sales.
