Bailey - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/MJ.9.4.30. X.7772 PHANTOM 11 LEFT HAND CHASSIS 24-EX. The first left-hand chassis is now being fitted up with nearly all of the parts which have been agreed to in the specification for the first 200 left-hand chassis. The only parts which will not be fitted are the backing and stop light switches and the improved lubrication to the clutch spigot. These alterations demand an alteration to the gearbox casing and are not yet instructed. We attach herewith specification for 24-EX. We are making arrangements now for this car to cross over on Tuesday the 22nd. We shall leave Derby with the car on Monday morning the 21st. inst. If you therefore wish to communicate with us, our address will be the works until the morning of the 21st., R.A.C. Folkestone the morning of the 22nd., and R.R.Sevres the morning of the 23rd. The proposal is that E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will proceed straight to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence, and when we leave R.{Sir Henry Royce}, we will wire for OY. to meet us somewhere in France so that he can have the opportunity of trying the left-hand car thoroughly before it actually starts the 10,000 mile test.
