C. Johnson Esq.,
Dear Mr. Johnson

Re Change Gear.

It has just occurred to me that my 4 cylinder car which is fitted with the free wheel arrangement I mentioned to you a week or two ago, is being repaired at Derby, and I need hardly say I am quite willing that you, or any member of the staff, should use it in order to verify my views.

It does not want any instructions, except that it is to be used with reasonable determination; when the gears will engage instantly. There is no need for the driver to "set his teeth" or for his heart to begin beating, he has merely to decisively move the lever.

It has, during the few years I have had it, been the admiration of every motorist who has ridden with me. Its adoption would wipe out a good deal from our Instruction Book A.{Mr Adams}

Yours sincerely,

(signed) E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} Claremont.
