My dear F.H.R.
On Friday Mr. Ernest Claremont again raised the question of why we do not fit to our gear box the free-wheel arrangement which was originally fitted to his first two cylinder and then to his four cylinder car.
He says it has been so successful and has not given trouble, whereas with the present gearbox without the free wheel arrangement he finds it most difficult to change gear and he knows that everyone else finds it difficult to change gear and that even our own experts sometimes find it impossible to change gear without crashing or rattling the gear teeth .
He knows that you have found this arrangement un-mechanical but in his own experience it has proved mechanical and useful, and therefore, in his opinion he does not see any reason why it should not be fitted .
Yours sincerely,
