Taper Screwed Sparking Plug Inserts.

Attached is LeC.3842 shewing a taper screwed sparking plug insert for a Bentley aluminium cylinder head.

Before we go to the expense of manufacturing a complete head to test out this modification we should like you to make some experiments using either a scrap head or a block of aluminium.

The insert should first be screwed in cold and a spark plug afterwards screwed home and released again in order to see whether the insert remains in position or screws out instead of the sparking plug.

If the insert remains in position the test should be repeated but with the block heated up to a temperature equivalent to the normal cylinder head working temperature.
