Insulation. Scheme of Testing.
Two forms of Insulation have to be tested, I Sheet, II Block.
I) Sheet includes, Paper, fabrics (treated or untreated) mica and micanite, varnishes & asbestos.
A general test can be specified for these, viz:-
Breakdown voltage. Place a sample between plane electrodes, connected to testing transformer, and gradually raise voltage until breakdown. Note this pressure. Observe thickness of sample with micrometer and tabulate "Breakdown volts per mil."
