-2- Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.5/MH {M. Huckerby} : the opinion that for our installations, the drop in type of unit with automatically cut off bypass is probably the best compromise from all points of view. Accordingly, future running and developement will almost certainly all be on a scheme of this nature, utilising a unit of the Smith's type X.30065 or a similar unit made by yourselves. The writer would like you to let him have a drawing as soon as possible showing your drop in unit of this type. We presume that you will make suitable provision for resistance to external pressure of the frame and bellows plates. (In passing we would mention that we have run a General Motors' thermostat unit with the system which collapsed the units returned to you, without any ill effects whatsoever). We would also like you to let the writer have a list of thermostat units which you have supplied recently and for which you have received no official orders, together with your charges for same. Also we would like to know whether any of these units can be used by you if returned by us. The answer to your letter of the 30th inst. is contained above - the Smith's unit is No.X.30065. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
