November 1934. Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, D E R B Y. For the attention of Mr. Leslie. Shock Damper Bellows. Dear Mr. Leslie, Since my visit to your Works I have been thinking over the question of inspection of the Shock Damper Bellows Units and have come to the conclusion that if we make a special practice of packing these parts in wooden boxes so that they are held to a board by the flange there should be no difficulty in giving you 100% satisfactory deliveries. As the present construction is the cheapest I am writing to ask if you will be agreeable to continuing the use of these units in their existing form for an indefinite period. If so I will arrange for a complete set of really good gauges to be made. I have been over the drawings very carefully and I think that if this is done you will receive nothing which you have to reject. The only point is, do you see any difficulty in arranging for the units to be handled at your end with sufficient care, after having passed your Inspection Department, to prevent them from being bent out of square? If this difficulty does not exist I think we would do well to go ahead with the Gauges I suggest and see what happens. | ||
