Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X2628 Technical - re Spring Shackles. Br1/H23.11.21. [STAMP: RECEIVED HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} NOV 24 1921] We are getting a number of cars in with squeaks, which can be traced to the front shackles of the rear springs, and when we dismantle these we find in several cases they are seized on the overhanging pins, and even those that are not seized we always find the top side of the overhanging pins quite dry and worn rough owing to lack of lubrication. I would suggest it would be an advantage if an oil groove could be cut round the phosphor bronze bush in this shackle. I shall be glad if you will be good enough to take this up with the Drawing Office. Br. {T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} | ||
