This was caused by the balance line union of the unit in the tank & pipe became cracked along the screwed portion of the thread. The bore of this union is too large for safety, it nearly cuts into the bottom of the thread. Clutch Slipping. This was caused by the drain holes in the oil catcher not being sufficient in number and size to deal with the extra oil the rear bearing has been receiving. The inner thrower plate edge is too near the edge of the oil catcher and causes the oil to overflow on to the clutch plate, which then flings the oil on to the faces of the fabric. To overcome the excess oil at certain speeds being led into the rear ball race, we have fitted a felt washer in the main driving shaft bore, leaving a centre hole large enough to allow a certain amount of oil to pass through. We believe this scheme will overcome the over-oiling of the clutch whilst without interfering with the supply from the gearbox. S.J.Hancock. | ||
