H/BP. 43855 BY4/G.12.9.28. re LOCKING WASHERS FOR PROPELLER BOSS BOLT NUTS. ------------------------------------------ I am not acquainted with the actual type of R.A.F. locking washer referred to by Mr. Finch. Personally, I am of the opinion that we should maintain our own locking device if only from the point of view of not dividing responsibility. There are two issues :- 1/- Material. 2/- Design. Either of these might be wrong in the R.A.F. washer. By maintaining our own design we control both factors, and would then legitimately bear responsibility for failure if and when it occurred.
