To Bentley Motors Ltd. Derby...............Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Levallois, Sr/VA.4/HB.{C. E. Harcombe}25.I.39 re: "Paulin Bentley" B.27.LE ------------------------- Prior to fitting our spare 4 1/4 Litre engine to the above chassis, we dismantled it for inspection as it had already covered 15.766 km. in several customers chassis and the following is our report: Crankshaft: OK. Main Bearings: Surface OK., no sinkage. We increased the working clearances to .003" by fitting thicker liners and easing sides of bearings as original clearances were insufficient. Big-end Bearings: Surface OK., no sinkage, checked for clearance, all bearings have .0025" working clearance. Cylinder Block: Fitted a new block with standard bores, vis 3.500". We honed the block, in order to increase the diameter of the bores to 3.5015' which were left with a semi-glass finish. Sr/VA.Vd | ||
