TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Copy to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X8430 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M24.11.26. PHANTOM STEERING. X8430 Mr. Royce wishes to try a still lower gear ratio in the steering, and we send you here-with N. scheme 2310. shewing small diameter worm with a .875 lead. In order to get as much area as possible we are suggesting that the thickness of the whitemetal in the bottom of the nut threads should be .01 instead of .025, as it appears to us that it should be possible to accomplish this. Will you please let us have your comments if you disagree. Mr. Royce also wishes to try the .8 lead on N. scheme 2263. which we sent you at the beginning of Sept. These experiments are regarded as urgent. [Stamp] RECEIVED [Circular Stamp] NOV 25 1926 DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
