- 2 - HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RH.{R. Hollingworth}1/VS.{J. Vickers}21.5.37. Foot Switch. Electrically this switch was alright, but the toggle spring and two cover fixing screws were missing. Inspection of 6.B.IV Ignition. Coils. The original coil failed in France, being fully reported in RS{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}/1.G.45. The spare coil is standard D.72503 and is electrically sound and in good condition. Ballast. This is a "Glowray" non-temperature coefficient ballast resistance, in good condition, no signs of burning visible on the bakelite moulding. H.T. Wires and Tubes. The Johnson and Phillips H.T. wire is electrically sound and in good condition. The tubes are satisfactory and in good condition. Delco-Remy Distributor (Electrical). The contact levers and points and H.T. rotor are new, being fitted latterly in France by Mr. B. Rushton of Delco-Remy. There are signs of tracking around the carbon brush in the distributor head, but this has been explained by running with a broken rotor blade. The replacement rotor was a very poor fit, this causing excessive wear on the distributor H.T. segments. Condenser. This has been tested and is electrically sound.
