The position with regard to these tyres appears to be that they were ordered by someone at the Works and sent to London to be fitted to the cars which were then in London. They were disposed of, according to our records, in this way -

4 were fitted to 35-EX
4 " " " 34-EX
4 " sent to the Works.

In addition to these, we in London had four Goodrich covers supplied by the Goodrich Tyre Co. and four Firestone covers supplied by the Firestone Tyre Co. Furthermore, someone at the Works procured a set of Avon covers. These were all ordered at the time when were up against it over tyre noises on our Demonstration Cars during the Olympia Show period and just prior to that when the Phantom III was announced.

Now that the situation is clear it would appear necessary to send covering orders to the Companies concerned for the tyres supplied, and no doubt you will arrange accordingly. We will deal with the Goodrich and Firestone, which were ordered in London, so far as issuing covering orders is concerned.

We are arranging for the remaining covers which are still in London - the Avon and the Goodrich - to be returned to the Works, so presumably Experimental or Test can use them up in due course in some way or other.
