Complaints - Stromberg Carburetters.

Referring to letter from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} at Cricklewood of September 1st, there is no doubt that the barrel of the carburetter is much too flexible, mostly owing to the low value of the rigidity of the material used.

We are at once arranging with Messrs.Zenith to stiffen this up by continuing the smaller diameter of the bore up to the top, and by considerably increasing the thickness and diameter of the stiffening rib connected with the choke spindle bearings.

These alterations should increase the final rigidity of the barrel five or six times. At the same time we are instructing a reduction in the diameter of the pinch bolt on the air pipe fitting from 1/4 to 2-BA.

With regard to the question of float mechanism having been found bent, we are aware that carburetter float levels are frequently adjusted by the Stromberg representative at our Works. It would however be quite easy to seal up the floatchamber lids before cars leave the factory by drilling the lengthened end of one of the fixing screws for a wire loop and lead seal. We will see what can be done to arrange this.
