| -5- Spring Drive - I.O.P.E. 86976 & Lec.4475. Throughout the mileage there was no marked period of crankshaft vibration. We did not examine the condition of the slipper wheel. Valves & Fittings - I.O.P.E. 86922. None of the valves or mechanism were removed and we encountered no trouble throughout the 10,000 miles. Valves SpringsHsl827 (outer) & L.86369 (inner). There has been no failure of the outer or inner valve springs. We have had no indication of valves bouncing or springs being noticeably noisy from the interior of the car. Push Rods. We have had no trouble of push rods breaking and have not noticed any defects with regard to them touching the block, as previously experienced. Cylinder Head - L.87708. Rocker Covers.L.87570. We have not dismantled the cylinder heads or removed any mechanism during the test. The covers have only been removed to inspect the tappets, otherwise the whole unit has been left untouched. The modified method of securing the covers has cured all oil leaks and we consider this is a satisfactory job. We would, however, point out that either a special spanner must be made to fit over the nuts, or more clearance be put round the nuts so as to allow access with a standard 1/4" box key. | ||
