Dear Mr. Minchin,

Thank you for yours M/5. of the 13th inst. I am sorry to hear that the tungsten points are not going well. In a case like this, particularly in view of the fact that the points on three other cars running in similar circumstances are behaving satisfactorily, we are naturally anxious to have as much information as possible as to whether there could be any other circumstances which may account for what you say.

First of all, although you do not mention "tungsten" there can be little doubt that it is tungsten points that are in question. Is it quite certain that the connections in the ignition circuit are in O.K. order and particularly those of the condenser to the points, and has it for instance been suggested, though this is quite unlikely, that the condenser itself is at fault? The actual manner in which the tungsten points became faulty would also be of interest.

In our own immediate experience the present tungsten points on our battery ignitions go very well, and we are surprised to hear that they do not run 200 miles on your car without needing attention, therefore any further information you can give us would be welcome.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
