Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Evl/M26.6.30 dealing with the items as enumerated. (1) We have for some considerable time expressed a preference for a rubber mounted central subframe support; we are endeavouring to fit this to one of the new cars we are now building and hope shortly to be in a position to recommend this alteration. (2) It is difficult to understand that the subframe can be so much out of centre that the side member can foul the chassis frame. We do not think that we can tighten up the chassis limits any finer than they are at present but we can make a better job of the subframes. Will Ey. please look over the subframe job with a view to ensuring better jigging of the subframe during erection and closer inspection before despatch. The erecting jigs at present in use do not appear to be as good as they might be. While the bolt holes are moderately, well jigged, also the distance between the side members, there is very little provision for checking parallelism of the side members between the bolt holes. | ||
