Radio Screened Plugs

Gentlemen,

I am directed to refer to your letter of the 8th instant on the above subject and to enquire whether the information given therein is sufficient alone to enable the plug makers to produce plugs which will be entirely satisfactory for your engines, e.g. if they shorten the plugs by .500" will they be suitable for the exhaust side of the Kestrel Supercharged and Unsupercharged engines, or do you forsee any other difficulty in fitting, removing and maintaining these types of plug on those engines?

With regard to the drawing of the special terminal fitting which you state was shown to Dr. Bairstow at R.A.E., it is desired that you have a copy of this drawing forwarded to R.D.E.3. to illustrate the point made in your letter.

As far as possible, would you please amplify your remarks as to unsuitability in the case of various types of plug, so that the plug makers may have a reasonable opportunity of modifying the design so as to overcome the difficulty, and of producing types which will be generally satisfactory.

I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,

(Signature) E.L. Mayall Eustace
for Assistant Director/R.D.E.
for Director of Technical Development.

DERBY.
