Regarding scissors pattern, I do not think this as good as that used on the front of the 40/50. It was the original Truffault pattern about 1904, is convenient, but not elegant or even in action, and the mass hanging on the ends of flex levers looks bad.

The Hartford pattern is not progressive but I think you favour the ease of adjustment. I do not think this as good as constant effect, correct adjustment, not to the whims and fancies of chauffeurs, but what we think right; on the frunt ample and non-progressive and on the back progressive constant and at the correct amount.

Houdailles, Truffault, and other up-to-date high class designers have adoptedthe same as our 40/50. The style of the joints are not greatly influenced by the pattern of the levers. Persevere with those of Goshawk 11; they promise excellent and not over expensive to make.

Try Ferodo of blacklead pads in the ball joints to avoid the necessity of grease, and stuff box full of grease.
