81918E. Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.3/MJ. 8th. August, 1934. Messrs. K.L.G. Sparking Plugs Ltd., Robinhood Works, Putney Vale, LONDON.S.W.15. Dear Sirs, K.L.G. 836 B. SPARKING PLUGS. We have now tested these plugs under the special engine conditions for which they were required and we are pleased to inform you that they functioned quite satisfactorily. Upon testing the plugs after use on the engine, however, three of them broke down whilst all the others occasionally sparked over inside the insulation of the central electrode at 8000 volts. Our criticism of these plugs is, therefore, that the internal flash over distance is too small and inadequate for this type of plug. We should be interested to know if you will consider modifying this type of plug in this respect. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
