(crossed out) c. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 319- PHANTOM III - 'D' SERIES, CYLINDER HEAD WITH FOUR INLET PORTS. We have in hand a design to improve the coring and water spaces in the new cylinder head with four inlet ports, which is being introduced on production at Series D, and D.T. considers these improvements are sufficiently necessary from a production point of view as to warrant their inclusion from the start of the new head. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} agrees that the proposed changes will not affect the characteristics of the head as regards the engine running, and it does not therefore require test running before inclusion on production. The position of the valve spring washers on the valves is being raised slightly, although the overall length of the valve and its weight will not be altered. In view of the above, will you please hold up work on the following parts until the alterations are made :- (1). Cylinder head casting. (2). Machining of valves (forgings are O.K.) (3). Valve Guides. (4). Valve Spring Top Washers. (5). Cylinder Head End Covers. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
