To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. c. Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}-Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hor. [crossed out text] X6067 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/AM 9.1.32. BODY WIRING AND ACCESSORY BOXES. X6068 Referring to El/M18.1.32, our views are that the whole of the distribution system should be incorporated on one distribution board as suggested in our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.2/KT4.11.31. This simplifies the circuits considerably from the point of view of the customer and enables any fault in any circuit to be immediately located on the one board, each circuit being protected by its own individual fuse. It would still be possible to arrange for the heavy current accessory circuits such as starter motor relay units, cigar lighters etc. to be bye-passed from the ammeter, and would obviate the necessity for using accessory distribution boxes scattered about the chassis. This would also have the advantage that the wiring system could be practically completed at the works before the chassis was despatched, the spare wires for accessories being left in the tube with a sufficient end length for subsequent wiring up at the body builders. The body maker would then only have to connect up these wires to his accessories instead of putting in new wiring (which might be of a doubtful character) for the accessories he wishes to fit extra to the car. In the case of the 20/25 which you have not mentioned, we are now fitting so many electrical accessories to this car that it will be as necessary for this car to be equipped with accessory distribution as the 40/50, and unless a redesign of the distribution board is contemplated for this car, we suggest that an accessory distribution box be provided similarly to the 40/50.
