Each day the tester should make a point of satisfying himself that oil is getting to a particular bearing. Preferably this should be removed and examined, but in cases where the work involved would hinder the progress of the car the bearing can only be examined externally. However, parts such as the ball-joints, brake levers etc. should be periodically examined and cleaned. They should be kept clean and dry so that a definite idea of the lubrication can be obtained on next dismantling them.

After 3000 miles the car should be put into the Shop for a day for examination of the more inaccessible parts. This should be repeated after 6500 miles.

Particular note should of course be taken of the oil-tightness of the system, and all leaks should be reported and remedied. It may be advisable to whitewash the frame channels so that such leaks are more easily traced. The joints soldered into the shock damper levers should especially have attention.

Care should be taken in replacing all pipe lines after dismantling and the effect of putting back the original washers noted. If any junction shows signs of weeping oil after this, new washers should be used to re-make joints, but not unless.

A systemmatic daily report on the running of the car and examination of the chassis lubrication in accordance with the above should be made and sent through.
