X3806 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy1/LG4. 6. 29. We have carried out experiments on the feed of oil to the servo cams and bearing. We found out that the best results were obtained by inserting two strands of worsted bent double and secured in copper wire, as sample herewith, in the hole feeding the servo bearing. In this manner oil was allowed to build up in the recess and meter a certain quantity to the servo cams. The drip plug feeding the servo should give 15 drops per shot of the pump. We found with this method that 5 drops were metered to the servo cams and 10 to the servo bearing which we consider reasonable amounts. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.Gaye. | ||
