12405 To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Derby. Levallois Dear Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, In answer to your Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.5.I.37, I was very interested to read the enclosed lettre from Hoyts. However, there seems to have been some confusion, probably due to a misinterpretation of my telegram, which I think was not confirmed. What we said was that the metal used by Bugatti was HOYTS A.V.B. I have had a further conversation with Dr. Espanet, who runs their Service Depot in Paris, and he went to the trouble of looking up the invoice of Hoyt's French Agent for the last delivery of this metal to their Paris Depot, and there is no doubt that the metal was invoiced as above mentioned. Dr. Espanet remembers that, in days gone by, they used to deliver Hoyt's Number Eleven. Whether or not the French Agents have, for reasons of their own, agreed to call this metal "A.V.B." from now onwards instead of Number Eleven, is a thing which I am going to try and find out. However, Hoyts Putney will probably be able to give you further information now that the designation "A.V.B." can be given them instead of "AU.6". Should you wish me to do so, I can arrange with Espanet to purchase from him some of this metal, which could be forwarded to you for your inspection. Yours sincerely, S. | ||
