X.3445. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. c. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} EFC1/T2.4.24. X.3445 - FAULTY IGNITION COIL FROM CHASSIS 58-S7 - Middlemass. Reference your By2/H28.3.24, we have carefully investigated this coil, and attached please find copy of our report, from which it will be seen that the coil is suffering from an incipient secondary insulation breakdown. We are of the opinion that this has been the whole cause of the trouble in the first instance, and that the coating of the ballast resistance contacts by the insulating material was a secondary effect, and not the principal cause of the trouble. We are returning the coil herewith, and suggest that it should be carefully unwound to find the actual breakdown. This can be done in this Dept. if you so desire. EFC. Rept. attd. | ||
