Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}22/ML.12.4.40. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AA{D. Abbot-Anderson} I have had the following note from on the subject of Inspector Engineers. "(Ref: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson}2/B.2.4.40) As you know, a certain number of Inspector Engineers are still carrying on. I rather gather that their job will come to an end in due course. It struck me, however, that their drivers might be useful; they have obviously had a great deal of experience in calling on owners in the past and they could do so now and carry out schedule service jobs for which charges are made. This would be a step towards educating present owners in the way of the idea that they will have to pay for maintenance in the future. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AA{D. Abbot-Anderson}" As we mentioned to you the other day we are getting out a proposal for post-war servicing of vehicles of the Rolls Royce rationalised production range, the basis of which is a free service inspection after the first 10,000 miles and a further inspection at the end of each subsequent 10,000 miles, which will be made available at an attractive figure. If, when we have finalised the scheme it is agreed upon, a number of reliable mechanics will be required. The suggestion that we might change over to this type of service during war-time conditions seems to be quite a good one. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
