Note on the potential for a jack pad to slide laterally during operation, and a handwritten query about informing suppliers.

found was that the jack pad is expected to slide laterally on the ground due to the action of the linkage and the radial movement of the mounting when jacking up, and that the effect of this was to cross wind and damage the jack. We, therefore, think this is a point which should be carefully observed in testing the two systems which have been carried out in this way.
