The total number of exhaust system complaints is the most alarming feature of the quarterly complaint list. We give herewith a detailed analysis of these complaints together with the remedies which are applicable. Brief analysis. Total complaints 198. (1) Complaints for which a definite cure is available :- P.I. Butterfly valve - 9 20 HP. downtake pipe - 23 20/25 HP. " " - 31 P.II sliding joint - 25 P.II cut out - 23 Total 111 (2) Complaints for which a proved improvement is available:- Manifold joint washers, all cars. Total 18. (3) Complaints for which a modification is yet unproved; but is available. Cracked manifolds. 20 HP. 19 20/25 HP. 16 P.I 5 P.II 2 Total 42 (4) Complaints for which no modification is available. Corroded rear silencers. Total 13. (5) Miscellaneous. Total 14. Thus, out of a total of 198 complaints, modifications are available for 171, leaving only 27 of which 14 are various and do not warrant serious attention. Dealing with the above briefly :- | ||
