-2- (1) There are many cars under this heading on which the necessary modifications may have to be carried out. 303 20/25 HP. cars; 700 P.II cars; we cannot therefore look forward to an immediate drop in these numbers. (2) The copper and asbestos steel lined washer has not been in use for a long time, but has been proved to be superior to the brass and asbestos washer. It is now used on all models. (3) For 20 HP. and 20/25 HP. cars we have two alternative manifolds, a sliding joint type and a cooling fin type. Both these types have been fitted to customers cars by us, but it will be a long time before we get sufficient information to state whether they are good. We recommend that no more of the type of manifold which fails be made for replacements, the cooling fin type of manifold which appears a safer modification then the sliding joint type should be fitted in all cases where manifolds have failed. We are instructing 12 of each of the two types of cooling fin manifold for 20 HP. and 20/25 HP. cars to be made and to be available for replacements. For P.I cars we again have two modifications, the safer of which is the malleable iron manifold. We are instructing 12 sets of these for replacements, no more standard type manifolds are to be made. For P.II we are asking Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} to stiffen up the flanges at the point where they fail. (4) This complaint, corroded rear silencers, requires investigation before we can offer any modification. (5) Miscellaneous :- these are mostly very minor complaints and do not warrant any action. | ||
