MATTERS ARISING OUT OF MINUTES - MARCH 9/33. (3)

PRESENT POSITION.

Engine Finish. Samples of various finishes to be submitted for Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s inspection.
Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} states "Nothing has yet been done re the alternative finish for Bentley engine. One reason for this is that we have not yet received the final carburettors from the S.U. Co."

Cutout. Decided to fit cutout of the Silver Ghost type, but steps to be taken to keep fumes from entering body, probably by the use of a short tail pipe.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states "An improved form of cutout has been fitted to Bentley No.3."

(15 chassis to be ready end of July or early August; these are in addition to 1st Exp. chassis.)
General Position. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} states "The 3rd Bentley car is now running on the road and we expect to have the 4th chassis completed before Whitsun. Cars Nos.1, 2, 3, and 4 will require modifications to be brought up to date with such parts as rear axle etc. We have received reports from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} on the Bentley car."

MINUTE 5. SPECTRECodename for Phantom III GENERALLY.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states that all instructions as regards design of water connections and wire fittings have been issued.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reports that we are making some progress with the SpectreCodename for Phantom III engine in connection with the investigation regarding connecting rods.

MINUTE 7. P.II.
Boring out cylinders etc. of SS{S. Smith}-JS.{Mr Johnson's Secretary}
Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} states "Phantom II tests are still proceeding on the bed with the larger bore P.II engine unit."
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states "We have issued a modification to the crankcase design to overcome the failure experienced on the centre main bearing."

MINUTE 10. ENGINE MOUNTING.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reports he has now issued the schemes for trying out the floating power system on Peregrine.
