MATTERS ARISING OUT OF MINUTES - MARCH 9/33. (2) (Cont'd) MINUTE 2. PEREGRINE GENERALLY. Switchbox. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states "There is no further progress to report yet on the new switchbox as the department concerned has been too full up with other work." MINUTE 3. WOODHEAD ROAD SPRINGS. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/MJ.23.5.33. states;- "In our memo Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/RT.7.4.33. we stated that 18-C4. car would be going to France fitted with Woodhead springs and that we should be issuing a standard ismation sheet for Woodhead springs on the 25 HP. car. Since then we have carried out a number of tests and have come to the conclusion that we get a better springing with Firth's springs than Woodhead. As we cannot afford to sacrifice the least bit of comfort, we do not propose changing from Firth's springs. Tests we have made have shown that with Firth's springs we have less internal friction than with Woodhead's." "We are going ahead with Woodhead springs for the Bentley car because on this particular car we can accept more friction in the springs." MINUTE 4. 3½ LITRE BENTLEY. Instrument Patches. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} approved drawing R.R. Beh.358. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states "We have now approved of alterations to the design of the patch for Bentley No.3." Circlip. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} states "The engines in No.3. Bentley and on the test bed are running with the buttons in the ends of the piston pins. Tests have been carried out at high speeds on the bed and there have been no failures." Intake Silencer. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} says that tests have been completed and a satisfactory intake silencer is available for Bentley. The design details have not yet been issued. | ||
