ENGLISH & AMERICAN RADIATOR SHUTTERS.

During the past 10 yrs, we have had thermostat control in consideration and trial, on and off, for and against, because of its advantages and disadvantages.

The two disadvantages are, it cannot anticipate, and it cannot vary its actions between summer and winter conditions.

Since we now have much better cold distribution, and also exhaust heating of throttle, the conditions are different to when we depended so much on hot water and heat under the bonnet.

We can therefore make the thermostat commence to open the shutters at a much lower temperature, say 50°C. and cause them to be fully open before 75°C. By using the air pressure for a spring, or a spring of low rating, and the sylphon double acting we can reduce this range.

This will do much to get over my fears that we shall have water boiling in summer, and Oy's fears of trouble when alcohol is used in winter, more so that shutters in winter only need to open a small distance.

I believe we have the best parts, and our arrangement is neat and simple, and only needs small modifications to be equal to the best known.
