Report on bumping test of pivots

F3783/4
X168

The first is the one with the recess on the taper part of the stub axle and which has been standardised quite recently. A pair of pivots were run on 5" humps at 105 revs per min. The near side one broke after running 4 1/2 hours 6 min.
The off side one has run 60 hours and is not yet broken.
The first one broke off at the root of the stub.
I think these tests are satisfactory and the pivot to be quite safe especially as the bore of the stub has been slightly reduced since the tests were made. The bore has been reduced from 1.35" to 1.342"
